24/02/07 - THE DOMINION FESTIVAL - Wakefield, England
"Carrying on from Evil Scarecrow was Hertfordshire metal clan Scavengers Daughter. From the moment they stepped up to the stage the sheer professionalism projected across through their whole performance. Their 45 minute set was tight and clearly rehearsed to the point of perfection and twin guitars produced some awe-inspiring fret board harmonies with a high level of adeptness on display from both guitarists Simon Ellis and Jim Hunt. While their Maiden influence is heavily perceptible their sound is anything but simply another rip-off and they have a sound that is refreshingly unique yet old school at the same time. Continuing with today’s theme of classic covers and their version of “Wrathchild” easily puts similar covers firmly in the shade. Scavengers Daughter would have been the band of the day if not for the thrashtastic Amok that played earlier. Amazingly this band does not even have a demo out although as soon as one is available I’ll be at the front of the queue demanding my copy!!!"

20/01/07 - JUDGEMENT DAY FESTIVAL - Hertford, England
A late change of the line-up offered Scavenger’s Daughter the opening slot, ensuring the day got off to a flying start with vocalist Coll Matraves twirling his mic stand above his head. Scavenger’s Daughter play straight-up metal and they play it well. Matraves possesses a great voice and bounds around the stage with bags of energy. Guitarist Simon Ellis and James Hunt show of their skills with some great lead work, but it’s as a solid unit that Scavenger’s Daughter most impress. A high quality performance to start to the day.

26/05/06 - Club 85 - Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England
It was very hard to believe that this was the band’s first gig. Their professionalism, energy and power were delivered with true metal grit and determination giving a dynamic and force driven set of sheer Metal delight. For me this was melodic metal at its finest offering a range of self penned songs that were nothing short of superb! In fact their title track “Scavengers Daughter” is nothing short of being a hit single it itself!
This was a band to be reckoned with and most certainly stole the show this particular evening at the excellent Club 85 in Hitchin.
Coll Matraves on lead vocals was as ever an amazing front man who could easily make even the most folically challenged individual to bang away his thinning locks to his awesome voice. Whilst I firmly believe that Coll’s voice lends itself perfectly to the Metal genre we were nevertheless treated on occasion to how melodic his voice can be and what a dynamic range his voice can reach.
On guitar was Simon and Jim who delivered some real fine riffs at a speed and intensity that often made the jelly in your head wobble and the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention. Whilst bringing up the rear on drums and bass were John and Dave who layed down the beats and rhythm perfectly blending together the proceedings.
This is a band that most certainly should not be underestimated. This was polished, innovative and contemporary metal at it’s finest whilst still paying true homage to the many bands that have influenced them.
Two things in particular mark this band out as a cut above the rest: Firstly the quality of the original songs in their set and secondly their energy and hunger.
For rock and metal fans alike this band had the lot and I loved it! If this is a taster of things to come, then look out for “Scavengers Daughter” because they have come to town and are most certainly not taking any prisoners!
